AS400 Senior Developer

Infosys Limited is seeking a highly skilled AS400 Senior Developer to join our Application Development and Maintenance service line in Pune. This role focuses on core development, optimization, and structural legacy modernization of enterprise applications hosted on the IBM iSeries platform.

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Application Development & Architecture: Design, engineer, and deploy high-performance software solutions on the AS/400 platform using RPG IV, RPG Free, CL, and DDS programming architectures.
• Legacy Modernization: Drive advanced modernization workflows, including refactoring legacy codebases, developing custom web services, and integrating IBM iSeries platforms with external modern ecosystems and databases.
• System Tuning & Maintenance: Maintain business-critical applications by conducting root-cause debugging, implementing complex bug fixes, and administering performance tuning techniques on relational DB2 databases.
• Cross-Functional Integration: Partner alongside database administrators, agile product managers, and system engineers to ensure seamless system interoperability and robust file handling workflows.
• Quality Assurance & Version Control: Execute comprehensive unit testing to verify code reliability under Agile/Scrum lifecycles while maintaining strict system configurations via modern version control suites like Git.

Required Qualifications & Technical Stack

• Professional Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven hands-on experience specializing in AS/400 technologies, file handling frameworks, and program flow control.
• Core Technical Stack: Absolute proficiency in AS/400 development tools (SEU, PDM, RDi) and deep foundational knowledge of the IBM iSeries operating system and database architecture (DB2).
• Preferred Capabilities: Familiarity with RPG/400 configurations, AS400 hardware setups, and active professional certifications in IBM systems are highly advantageous.
• Core Soft Skills: Outstanding analytical troubleshooting capabilities, structured technical documentation skills, and a strong collaborative mindset within multi-stakeholder delivery models.
