Job Description

TaskUs is hiring an Associate Data Engineer for its Information Systems team in Airoli, Maharashtra, India. This is a full-time remote Data Engineer opportunity for professionals with at least 2 years of experience in data engineering, ETL, data modeling, data warehousing, Python, cloud analytics, and business intelligence environments.

As an Associate Data Engineer at TaskUs, you will assist in designing, developing, maintaining, testing, and optimizing data pipelines, data warehouses, data models, and ETL processes that support business intelligence reporting, business analysis, and enterprise data delivery requirements. You will collaborate with technical users and business stakeholders to define data requirements, establish business rules, and deliver accurate and meaningful datasets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and set up data solutions using pre-approved patterns to move data from operational and external environments into business intelligence environments.
  • Manage data integration and ETL jobs, including consolidation, aggregation, filtering, validation, data quality routines, and dimension creation.
  • Configure and deploy automated jobs using pre-approved and reusable framework patterns.
  • Execute production-level jobs while considering data dependencies, schedules, validation routines, and data stream updates.
  • Design, develop, verify, and continuously optimize data models according to business requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical users to define data requirements and establish business rules.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver and continually enhance the business intelligence platform through relevant and accurate datasets.
  • Validate and verify data models according to business requirements.
  • Perform unit and system integration testing on development projects.
  • Undertake peer reviews, assist with testing, and ensure technical documentation remains current.
  • Monitor error handling and logging tools and processes and troubleshoot configuration and data errors.
  • Monitor performance and raise appropriate issues or flags.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize the ETL environment and implement monitoring, quality, and validation processes to maintain data accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in Data Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Python, Apache Kafka, AWS Redshift, AWS Glue, AWS S3, and Pentaho Data Integration.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including traditional and MPP database designs, star schemas, and snowflake schemas.
  • At least 2 years of data modeling experience.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on development experience using ETL tools such as Pentaho, SSIS, Informatica, Talend, Fivetran, or Airflow.
  • Knowledge of the architecture, design, and implementation of MPP databases such as Teradata, Snowflake, or Redshift.
  • 3 years of development experience using cloud-based analytics solutions is preferred, particularly AWS or GCP.
  • Knowledge of designing and implementing streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, or Segment.
  • Knowledge of database tuning and ETL tuning.
  • Experience using Python in a cloud-based environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases is preferred.
  • Knowledge, experience, or exposure to AI tools is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work effectively across internal functional areas in ambiguous situations.
  • Structured thinking and effective communication skills.

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s/College Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), or a related field.
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
