Principal Software Engineer, ABI Engineering [Principal SDE - Alexa Built-In Platforms]

Amazon Dev Center India (ADCI) is seeking an exceptionally accomplished, strategic Principal Software Engineer, ABI Engineering to join our elite devices organization in Bengaluru, Karnataka . Operating as a principal technical cornerstone for the global Alexa Built-In (ABI) ecosystem, this horizontal systems thinker owns the architectural frameworks and primitives required to securely embed Alexa LLM intelligence into third-party (3P) original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and original design manufacturer (ODM) consumer devices worldwide .

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Horizontal Systems Thinking: Shepherd the technical vision across separate Alexa roadmaps to seamlessly launch advanced 1P Alexa capabilities—encompassing Comms, Smart Home, and Cameras—onto diverse 3P electronic surfaces .
• Alexa LLM Device Orchestration: Lead the end-to-end design, optimization, and scaling of foundational language model (LLM) primitives engineered for edge deployment across a constellation of 1P and 3P devices .
• Reusable Component Blueprinting: Architect cross-surface reusable software components, standardizing interfaces that cleanly scale beyond standard ABI limits into tracks like Alexa Kids or Alexa Smart Vehicles .
• Architecture Future-Proofing: Influence broader Amazon organizations during early phase product definitions to avoid critical one-way door design decisions that could block 3P device integrations .
• Platform Optimization & Debugging: Dive deep into the bare-metal layers to supervise system tuning, resolve complex SoC bringup exceptions, and drive down runtime bottlenecks under narrow device memory limits .

Required Qualifications & Technical Stack

• Device Systems Engineering Tenure: Minimum of 10 years of verified, non-internship professional history leading consumer electronic product cycles, system programming, device driver engineering, and board support package (BSP) integrations .
• Android & Linux Stack Mastery: 10 or more years of explicit, hands-on development history managing HW/SW integration layers, platform middleware, frameworks, and application runtime ecosystems .
• Educational Foundation: Holds a valid Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent advanced technical discipline .
• Preferred Value-Adds: Documented mastery optimizing throughput for high-performance consumer tech devices, explicit exposure to panel technologies, and an elite balance between tactical deliveries and technical debt minimization .
