Job Description

Amazon Dev Center India (ADCI) is seeking a highly strategic and analytical Program Manager to drive Upstream Defect Elimination (UDE) initiatives across our Selling Partner Efficiency & Growth (SPEG) organization in Bengaluru and Chennai. This high-visibility, non-technical leadership role centers on engineering proactive defect prevention mechanisms, eliminating listing friction at the source, and delivering structural business value across legacy retail ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work

  • Upstream Defect Elimination Strategy: Identify critical structural gaps and optimization opportunities inside Amazon's product listing and catalog onboarding loops, constructing scalable mechanisms to exceed optimization pipelines.
  • Technical Root Cause Analysis: Perform high-rigor defect sizing and root-cause analysis (RCA) on systemic system errors, using data patterns to influence upstream infrastructure teams to implement permanent tool enhancements.
  • Cross-Functional V-Team Partnership: Collaborate directly with senior leaders (L6-L7) across multiple VP organizations to secure development bandwidth, shift focus from reactive fixes to proactive prevention, and align roadmap parameters without direct authority.
  • Program Portfolio Governance: Establish and execute rigorous governance frameworks, maintaining complete operational oversight over 30+ concurrent technical optimization initiatives via structured tracking mechanisms and clear escalation paths.
  • Financial Sizing & Metrics Validation: Quantify complex multi-million dollar business impacts across core financial vectors including Cost of Inefficiency (COI), incremental Gross Merchandise Sales (iGMS), Variable Cost to Serve (VCtS), and headcount (HC) savings, collaborating with Data Science and RBS Finance for entitlement sign-offs.
  • Executive Reporting & Presentation: Translate deep technical database complexities into clear, business-oriented narratives; run functional alignment workshops with 10+ cross-functional teams and present program health updates to senior leadership up to three tiers above level.

Required Qualifications & Technical Stack

  • Professional Experience Track: Minimum of 3 years of robust program or project management track record handling large-scale, cross-functional engineering initiatives spanning multiple organizational boundaries.
  • Educational Background: Holds a valid Bachelor's degree across Business, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, or related technical disciplines. A professional Project Management Certification is highly valued.
  • Technical & Data Toolkit: Practical competency in independent data mining, advanced data analysis, and technical requirement gathering. Strong hands-on engineering mastery of SQL query optimization and spreadsheet analysis tools (Advanced Excel, Pivot Tables, VLookUps) is mandatory.
  • Core Soft Skills: Exceptional strategic vision, strong ability to influence without formal authority, top-tier business writing, and the agility to scale solutions smoothly from marketplace pilots to worldwide e-commerce implementations.
