Job Description
Microsoft is seeking a highly skilled and system-oriented Senior Software Engineer to join our elite Azure Specialized division in a fully remote capacities across the United States. This high-impact role focuses on hardware-software co-design, developing fundamental cloud platforms for GPU-accelerated workloads, and engineering scalable architectures to support 100X capacity growth in AI training and inferencing infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- AI Cloud Infrastructure Engineering: Architect, build, and optimize scalable end-to-end virtual desktop, gaming, and AI computing platform layers spanning fiber switches, GPU interfaces, cluster structures, and custom rack designs.
- Extensible Code Production: Code, refactor, and maintain core system automation utilities using C#, Python, and PowerShell, applying strict software design principles to optimize Return on Investment (ROI).
- Distributed Systems Validation: Manage distributed high-performance computing (HPC) workflows and multi-node replication infrastructure arrays to keep platforms consistent under intense user demand.
- Dependency & Design Architecture: Take ownership of structural dependency mapping and author comprehensive technical design documents for next-generation platform services.
- Production Systems Support & DRI Operations: Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), monitoring live production environments for system downtime, resolving incident escalations on-call, and tracking stability playbook rules.
- Partner & Ecosystem Alignment: Coordinate directly with internal engineering squads and global industry partners to align product release timelines with overarching customer experience metrics.
Required Qualifications & Technical Stack
- Professional Experience: 4 or more years of robust technical software engineering experience, combined with a minimum of 2 years dedicated to Deep Learning models, machine learning middleware, or hardware-software co-design.
- Core Technical Stack Foundations: In-depth structural understanding of hardware/software interactions, large-scale algorithms, data access routing protocols, and multi-tenant cloud service operations.
- Security Screening Verification: Willingness and capacity to clear the specialized Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon onboarding and recurrently every two years thereafter.
