Senior Staff Software Engineer - Distributed Systems

We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and development of Druva’s distributed resilience platform. You will own low‑level architecture, implement scalable services, and guide the team to deliver high‑quality, petabyte‑scale SaaS solutions that protect critical data across cloud, on‑prem, and edge environments. Druva powers resilience for nearly 7,500 enterprises, including 75 Fortune 500 companies, and processes petabytes of data daily. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure the platform remains secure, performant, and adaptable to evolving threats.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as technical leader, owning end‑to‑end design, implementation, and scaling of core services.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects to translate requirements into robust features.
• Propose and evaluate architectural improvements for performance and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers, review their designs, and ensure best‑practice coding standards.
• Handle complex escalations independently and provide technical guidance to the team.
• Contribute technical content through internal blogs and external presentations.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to the product roadmap.
• Optimize service latency and throughput using profiling and benchmarking tools.

Required Skills:

• 5‑7 years of experience building global‑scale distributed SaaS products.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Go, Python, C/C++, or Java on Linux/Unix platforms.
• AI‑first mindset with practical experience using generative AI tools such as Cursor throughout the development lifecycle.
• Deep understanding of computer architecture, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Experience designing and optimizing data models for large‑scale analytics and OLAP workloads.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration is a plus.
• Knowledge of graph‑based data models and indexing strategies for semi‑structured data.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting frameworks such as Prometheus or Grafana.
