Amazon Dev Center India (ADCI) is seeking a highly skilled, system-oriented Software Dev Engineer II (SDE II) to join our Alexa Connections engineering division in Chennai . Embedded inside the core Contacts infrastructure team, this high-impact engineering role centers on developing advanced algorithmic search models, scaling distributed microservices, and integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) to transform voice-driven communication for millions of globally deployed hardware nodes .
Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- LLM-Powered System Integration: Architect, implement, and fine-tune complex conversational capabilities, integrating foundational language models directly into multi-tenant distributed systems .
- Advanced Algorithmic Development: Program and evaluate sophisticated backend indexing algorithms tailored for enhanced searching, ranking, and channel detection within core contact management services .
- Distributed Microservices Scaling: Refine and scale high-concurrency cloud backend infrastructures, using object-oriented methodologies to establish long-term service availability boundaries .
- Full Software Lifecycle Automation: Govern the team's software delivery process, writing comprehensive code modules, driving robust pull request reviews, and monitoring live product deployments .
- Product Strategy & Feature Definition: Partner directly alongside Technical Product Managers (TPMs), Principal Engineers, and business leaders to convert user stories into clear, actionable technical blueprints .
- Operational Excellence & Maintenance: Take proactive ownership of team metrics, optimizing runtime latencies, debugging systemic service faults, and ensuring tools achieve targeted operational safety parameters .
Required Qualifications & Technical Stack
- Professional Experience Track: Minimum of 3 years of robust, non-internship professional software engineering track track record shipping clean production code .
- Systems Design Mastery: 2 or more years of verified track record mapping cloud-scale architectures, applying software design patterns, or resolving distributed computing bottlenecks .
- Core Technical Toolkit: Practical engineering command over at least one modern general-purpose software language (such as Java, C++, Python, or C#) backed by complete familiarity with git version control .
- Preferred Capabilities: Full lifecycle development exposure (3+ years preferred) encompassing structured build automation pipelines, continuous code reviews, and AWS web platform setups .
- Core Soft Skills: Outstanding verbal and written technical documentation habits, strict attention to execution details, and a natural collaborative drive to innovate under ambiguity .
