Amazon Dev Center India (ADCI) is seeking a highly skilled, system-oriented Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) to join our Amazon Aurora Open Source Engines engineering group across technology centers in Bengaluru and Pune . Embedded inside the AWS Utility Computing (UC) organization, this high-impact position centers on the core design, engineering, and global scaling of Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL—one of the fastest-growing businesses within AWS, processing relational data for hundreds of thousands of users worldwide .
Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Core Database Engine Development: Architect, implement, test, and deploy innovative code components deep within relational database internals and cloud-architected storage infrastructure .
- Hyper-Scale Distributed Systems: Design fault-tolerant, highly available distributed database systems engineered to operate seamlessly across thousands of servers in multi-datacenter environments globally .
- Advanced Performance Engineering: Resolve low-level technical bottlenecks linking to high-concurrency transaction processing, multi-tenant caching layers, complex query optimization logic, and runtime languages .
- Full Software Lifecycle Ownership: Participate completely in all phases of software building and infrastructure deployment loops, establishing metrics, automated tracking scripts, and continuous architecture updates .
- Root Cause Error Diagnostics: Investigate and isolate complex system architectural defects, deploying rock-solid code patches to transform cloud service durability, security, and cost parameters .
- Cross-Functional V-Team Interlock: Act as an engineering anchor within a fast-moving, startup-like delivery environment, sharing technical input to influence critical infrastructure roadmaps and cloud business decisions .
- Technical Mentorship & Quality Governance: Enforce strict software development guidelines, participate in thorough peer code reviews, and provide active technical mentorship to junior developers .
Required Qualifications & Technical Stack
- Professional Experience Track: Minimum of 3 years of non-internship professional software engineering track record, combined with at least 2 years explicitly focused on the design, reliability scaling, and pattern composition of distributed cloud systems .
- Educational Background: Holds a valid Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an allied quantitative engineering field .
- Systems Engineering Toolkit: Advanced systems programming command over a general-purpose language (such as C++, Java, or Python) paired with deep technical familiarity covering open-source codebases, large-scale data systems, and basic cloud networking architectures .
- Core Soft Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication properties, exceptional customer focus, natural aptitude for leading technical design brainstorming sessions, and a strong drive for constant technical innovation .
