Amazon Dev Center India (ADCI) is seeking a highly analytical and technical Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) to join our elite Digital Catalog team in Chennai. This role focuses on architecting, building, and scaling high-throughput cloud web services and workflows that power the global publishing, purchase, and distribution of digital media assets across Kindle EBooks, Amazon AppStore, Amazon MP3, and Amazon Instant Video platforms.
Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Full-Lifecycle Software Engineering: Analyze, design, code, and deploy core transactional backend web services and microservices tailored for highly visible customer-facing digital experiences.
- System Design & Architecture: Apply robust object-oriented principles and proven design patterns to build fault-tolerant, scalable architectures that maximize reliability and throughput across the Digital Content Platform ecosystem.
- Quality Governance & Test Automation: Enforce rigorous coding standards through comprehensive peer code reviews, deep-dive static analysis, and custom automated testing to secure zero-defect releases.
- Operational Excellence & Pipelines: Actively drive automated on-call support activities, build robust CI/CD deployment paths, and execute systematic architectural enhancements to continuously meet internal Op-Ex reduction goals.
- Technical Direction & Cross-Team Influence: Provide strategic technical leadership to influence long-term system roadmaps and integration parameters for adjacent service divisions across the organization.

Required Qualifications & Technical Stack

- Educational Background: Holds a valid Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent quantitative engineering field.
- Core Technical Toolkit: Masterful proficiency in at least one modern general-purpose programming language—such as Java, C++, or C#—combined with strong source control management and unified build processes.
