Job Description
Amazon India (ASSPL) is seeking a highly execution-oriented and process-driven Team Lead - Sort Center (Contractual Role) to join our Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) - Linehaul Surface Ops team across multiple regional hubs, including Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Bangalore, Chennai, Lucknow, and Gurgaon. This operational role focuses on supervising ground-level carrier networks, optimizing fleet asset configurations, and enforcing strict compliance metrics to maximize on-time transit performance across the supply chain grid.
Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Carrier Performance & Vendor Management: Supervise a portfolio of 10 to 15 third-party freight carriers, actively driving localized vendor development, auditing linehaul execution patterns, and enforcing key operational performance metrics.
- Capacity Planning & Rightsizing: Analyze Truck Utilization (TU) metrics and trailer volume allocations to execute effective vehicle rightsizing maneuvers and streamline ad-hoc linehaul cost reductions.
- Transit Exception Root Cause Analysis: Perform deep-dive structural reviews on delivery delays, breakdowns, and missing connections, coordinating alongside the Relay Operations Center (ROC) to apply immediate corrective path-to-green actions.
- Standard Work & Logistics Alignment: Implement rigorous standard work mechanisms across sortation yards, interfacing directly with site operations leaders to minimize terminal unloading dwell times and eliminate platform bottlenecks.
- Loss & Risk Mitigation: Collaborate directly with Loss Prevention (S&LP) and safety officers to evaluate transit damage incidents, intercept cargo leakages, and enforce yard safety regulations.
- Statutory & Technical Compliance: Govern multi-point vehicle and driver safety registries, tracking automated GPS compliance, Background Verification (BGV) checkpoints, and regional road permits.
- Administrative Operations Audit: Manage high-volume Proof of Delivery (POD) data inputs, executing thorough validation and document uploads inside tracking repositories to enable accurate invoicing.
Required Qualifications & Technical Stack
- Educational Background: Holds a valid Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Complete verbal and written fluency in the English language is required.
- Professional Domain History: Minimum of 1 year of professional, hands-on experience operating within logistics networks, fulfillment operations, industrial manufacturing, or high-volume corporate warehouse setups.
- Technical & Analytical Toolkit: Strong operational command over Microsoft Office products (specifically sorting, cleaning, and tracking metrics inside Excel) and distributed yard management systems (YMS).
- Preferred Spatial Familiarity: Practical functional awareness of local city topographies, major arterial road networks, and regional interstate transit configurations is highly preferred.
- Core Soft Skills: Exceptional team leadership attributes, clear interpersonal communication habits, strong capability to make data-driven decisions under narrow operational windows, and the flexibility to adjust to high-velocity e-commerce cycles.
