Technical Program Manager II

Microsoft is seeking an analytical, data-driven Technical Program Manager II to join the Azure Data engineering group within our Hyderabad technology hub. Embedded in the Microsoft Fabric platform team, this individual contributor role focus on optimizing platform quality, building automated service-health telemetry pipelines, and converting complex infrastructure signals into actionable insights for core products like Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, and Power BI.

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Platform Quality & Observability Governance: Drive end-to-end performance metrics (latency, regressions) and reliability tracking (success rates, failures, timeouts) across the global Microsoft Fabric data stack.
• Telemetry & Data Pipeline Architecture: Partner with cross-functional engineering and data science teams to onboard platform scenarios with complete telemetry models, robust data sampling parameters, and reliable reporting layers.
• Incident Management & LiveSite Support: Assist live service engineering teams by defining precise alerting thresholds; investigate production performance anomalies and execute root-cause diagnostics to eliminate platform regressions.
• Workflow Automation & Dashboard Engineering: Program automated scripts to remove manual program management tasks, leveraging Kusto Query Language (KQL), SQL, and Power BI / DAX to maintain executive service reviews.
• Monitoring Gap Remediation: Map out customer journeys to identify data-collection blind spots, systematically refining signal-to-noise ratios to catch system failures early with minimal alert fatigue.
• Cross-Team Orchestration: Align engineering priorities across disparate organizational matrices, resolve cross-component dependencies, and author repeatable onboarding technical documentation for new service components.

Required Qualifications & Technical Stack

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of verifiable track record in software engineering, technical program management, data analysis, or complex product development, including at least 1 year leading multi-team projects.
• Core Technical Stack: Deep foundational knowledge of distributed systems or cloud platform architectures, backed by practical proficiency with observability engines and analytics tools (Kusto, SQL, Power BI).
• Security Background Verification: Willingness and capacity to successfully clear the specialized Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hiring, recurring every two years thereafter.
• Core Soft Skills: Outstanding technical communication attributes to influence peer disciplines, strong logical reasoning under ambiguity, high attention to data correctness, and ability to thrive in a 3 days/week in-office hybrid configuration.
