Data Centre Linux & Hardware Engineer – Data Center Operations

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring for a Data Centre Linux & Hardware Engineer / Data Center Operations role in India. The position is part of AWS Infrastructure Services and focuses on maintaining and supporting large-scale data center infrastructure, including servers, hardware, networking and related systems.

As a Data Center Operations Technician, you will work with software, hardware and network engineering teams to maintain data center infrastructure and ensure reliable operations. The role involves server rack installation, hardware break-fix, troubleshooting network issues, responding to operational incidents and resolving technical issues within defined SLAs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and support data center infrastructure, servers and related hardware.
• Install and rack server equipment and perform hardware break-fix activities.
• Troubleshoot computer hardware and basic network issues.
• Respond to trouble tickets and resolve technical issues according to defined SLAs.
• Support scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Participate in 24x7 data center operations and on-call activities.
• Work with Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Developers and Technical Operations teams.
• Coordinate with hardware vendors, contractors and service providers when required.
• Document technical issues and contribute to root cause analysis.
• Support disaster recovery, data retention, safety and security procedures.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives within the data center environment.
• Follow organizational safety and security policies while working with data center equipment.

Required Skills:

• 2+ years of experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
• 1+ year of computer networking experience.
• Knowledge of server hardware and data center operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical and infrastructure-related issues.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet service-level requirements.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Willingness to work in 24x7 rotational shifts.
• Ability to work in a physical data center environment, including lifting and racking equipment up to 20 kg.

Additional Information: This role involves working in a large-scale AWS data center environment. Candidates may be required to work in cramped or elevated spaces while following health and safety guidelines. The position involves 24x7 shift rotation.
