SDE-1 – Expansions Tech and Product

Amazon is hiring an SDE-1 – Expansions Tech and Product in Hyderabad. This is a contractual Software Development Engineer opportunity within Amazon's expansions technology organization, focused on building technology that enables Amazon to launch and scale stores across global markets.

The role involves working on technology platforms that support local languages, local currencies, local payment methods, and new customer-facing features. As an SDE-1, you will design, develop, operate, and improve scalable software systems that help standardize execution and reduce time to market for global expansion initiatives.

You will work on technically challenging problems involving distributed systems, large-scale computing, web applications, data mining, information extraction, scalability, security, and algorithms. The role also provides an opportunity to contribute to the design, architecture, and development of consumer products at Amazon.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable software systems for Amazon's global expansion technology platforms.
• Build technology that supports new stores with local language, local currency, and local payment capabilities.
• Develop innovative technical solutions that reduce time to market and standardize execution across global expansion initiatives.
• Solve complex technical and business problems using data and software engineering principles.
• Design and implement software systems that address ambiguous and large-scale problems.
• Work with distributed systems, large-scale computing, web applications, data mining, information extraction, scalability, security, and algorithms.
• Build, operate, and continuously improve mission-critical software applications and engineering tools.
• Contribute to system architecture, technical design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Own technical inputs and business outcomes associated with assigned systems and features.
• Implement automated auditing and metric monitoring wherever possible.
• Monitor system performance and operational metrics to identify issues and improvement opportunities.
• Support the stabilization of day-to-day platform operations.
• Improve software build, testing, and development processes.
• Ensure software solutions follow organizational security and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused technology solutions.
• Work through ambiguous requirements and complex scaling challenges.
• Contribute to the design and development of consumer products used across Amazon's global marketplace.

Basic Qualifications:

• 1+ year of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline.
• Experience designing and developing scalable software applications.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software architecture.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems in ambiguous environments.
• Strong software development and problem-solving skills.
